Record Breakers!

Those of you that know Nathan will be unsurprised to learn that back in January 2019, he set himself a crazy challenge. Once he discovered that no-one had ever swum from the Catalinas Islands to the shore-line, there was no stopping him.

Nathan decided to take on this tough 12 kilometre, open water swim to raise vital funds for Suena en Colores,

a charity that provides psychological and social support for vulnerable children through art therapy.

This was no mean feat and meant early morning training every day for months, whilst also working full time at the Libélula. Not to mention the risks of training alongside jellyfish, big waves, rip currents, sharks, tides and the occasional crocodile!

At 5am on 13th July, the big day finally arrived. An excited Nathan departed with friends on the support boat to begin his big swim.

After battling the open seas and ever-changing conditions for a gruelling 6 hours and 45 minutes, Nathan made it back to Playa Flamingo and a hero's welcome.

After a few well deserved beers at Coco Loco with friends and family, it was revealed that Nathan had raised an incredible $1,600 for Suena en Colores. And, of course, set the record for the first person to ever swim from Las Catalinas back to the shore. What an achievement!

Thanks to everyone who donated and supported this amazing challenge.
